Pedometer — Privacy Policy

NextOne Labs LLC — Effective date: October 23, 2026

Summary: Pedometer has no user accounts and NextOne Labs runs no server that receives your data. Your steps, walks, runs, profile and settings are stored on your device in an encrypted database (and on your Wear OS watch if you use one). GPS location is used only during a walk, run or hike you start, and stays on your device. Health Connect sync is optional and happens on your device. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, and the app uses Google Firebase Analytics to learn which screens and features are used (never your steps, health data or location). Both collect limited device data as described in section 4; where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first, and you can turn usage stats off in Settings. Buying Pedometer Pro removes ads.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

NextOne Labs does not operate any server that receives your data from Pedometer, and the app has no crash-reporting service. Anonymous usage statistics are handled by Google Firebase Analytics (section 4). We do not collect:

2. Data That Stays on Your Device

Pedometer stores the following data locally on your device only:

This data is kept in a database encrypted with SQLCipher. The app does not upload it. If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include the app's data in your device backup so it can be restored on a new phone; this backup is handled by Android and Google under your account settings, not by us, and you can turn it off in your device settings. You can delete all locally stored data at any time by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the app.

3. Permissions

You can deny any optional permission and keep using the features that don't need it.

4. Third-Party Services

Pedometer uses the following Google services. Each one processes data under its own privacy policy:

All of the above are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Other than these services, Pedometer does not share any data with third parties, and we do not sell your data. See section 11 for how ads relate to US state privacy laws.

5. Health Connect

If you turn on Health Connect sync in Settings, Pedometer asks for permission to read steps and to write steps and distance in Health Connect, the on-device health data store on Android. Pedometer writes its daily steps and distance there so your other health and fitness apps can see them, and, while you have Pedometer open, reads the steps other apps recorded today so the numbers stay consistent. With sync on, Pedometer can also write the walks and runs you finish as exercise sessions (start, end and type; no route), if you allow write exercise.

If you choose Import step history (in Settings, part of Pedometer Pro), Pedometer asks for permission to read steps, read distance and, where Health Connect supports it, read past data (data older than 30 days). It then reads, while the app is open, the daily step and distance totals that other apps on your phone stored in Health Connect, for up to the last two years, and saves them as daily totals in Pedometer's own encrypted database so your history, records and badges include them. Importing does not turn on sync and runs only when you start it. Distance and past-data access are optional; without them Pedometer estimates distance from your stride and can only import about 30 days before you first allowed access.

Health Connect data stays on your device; Pedometer does not send it anywhere else, does not use it for advertising, and does not sell it or transfer it to anyone. You can review or revoke these permissions at any time in Health Connect's settings.

Pedometer's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Wear OS Watch

The Pedometer watch app counts steps on your watch and stores them there. If the phone app is also installed, the two sync your daily steps, goal, sessions and settings using the Wear OS Data Layer in Google Play services. This transfer happens only between your own paired devices; Google Play services may relay it through Google's servers in encrypted form when the devices aren't directly connected. NextOne Labs never receives this data. The watch app shows no ads.

7. Export and Backup Files

With Pedometer Pro you can export your daily steps and sessions as CSV files and create a backup file of all your data. These files are created only when you ask, and go only where you choose to save or share them. Restoring a backup replaces the data on your device.

8. Children's Privacy

Pedometer is intended for users aged 16 and over. It is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age for consenting to online services in your country, which is up to 16 in parts of the EU), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app's ads or analytics, contact us; on the device, clearing the app's storage removes everything the app holds.

9. Data Security and Retention

On-device data is stored in an encrypted database and protected by your device's built-in security; we recommend using a screen lock. Your data stays until you delete it, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. Data collected by Google's services is retained according to Google's policies; Firebase Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.

10. Your Choices and Your Rights in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

The controller for the limited data described in this policy is NextOne Labs LLC, reachable at the contact address in section 13. Google acts as an independent controller or as our processor for the services in section 4, as described in its own policies. Google may process this data in the United States and other countries outside your own; for transfers from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) and on Standard Contractual Clauses. Where the law requires it, we rely on your consent for personalized advertising, ad measurement and analytics storage; otherwise on our legitimate interests in showing non-personalized ads in the free version, understanding how the app is used, and preventing fraud, and on performance of a contract to deliver a Pedometer Pro purchase. You have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict processing based on legitimate interests, to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because we hold no data about you and the app has no accounts, most requests are best handled on your device or through your Google Account settings; contact us and we will help within the time the law requires.

11. Your Rights Under US State Privacy Laws

Residents of California and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights to know, access, correct and delete personal information, and to opt out of its sale, of its sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, and of targeted advertising.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
